Chattanooga Times Free Press: Local GOP members laud Blackburn’s run for Tennessee governor

Republicans in Hamilton County are excited about the prospect of U.S. Sen Marsha Blackburn as Tennessee’s next governor and say she is favored in Hamilton County over U.S. Rep. John Rose.

“I think it’s going to be very hard to beat Marsha Blackburn,” Jane Armstrong, a member of the Chattanooga Republican Women of Tennessee and the Hamilton County Pachyderm Club, said in a phone interview.

Blackburn, a two-term senator, announced her candidacy Wednesday to replace outgoing Gov. Bill Lee, who was elected to serve a second term in 2022. The state’s chief executive is limited to two terms. Blackburn first won her Senate seat in 2018 and won reelection last November.
